Good morning! Afternoon? Evening? I don’t know, just felt like the kind of greeting I wanted to give today! Anyway, it is a good morning where I am as I write this :) It is currently 8:15am, and I am sitting on a couch in Cornwall, England surrounded by 2 (of 3) dogs, drinking coffee while the owner of the house I am staying at makes me breakfast! In a bit they will take off and it will just be me and the pups! I arrived in London the morning of the 19th, lucky to avoid the airport closure on the 21st! I took the train out to Penzance and spent two days at a hostel there. I spent an afternoon walking a portion of the Southwest Coast Path, from Land’s End (not the brand) to Porthcurno, about 5.5 miles. It was such a gorgeous hike and super windy! I literally felt like the woman in that one boat video that just gets thrown around, I would be pushing against the wind and then it would let up and I would have to catch myself from tipping too far over, I understood quite quickly why everyone else had walking poles with them.
I will say that I am having a bit more trouble with jet lag than I have in the past, I find that by 3/4pm I am tuckered out and have to like mentally decide to push through and not take a nap! Hopefully getting into a more set routine with these pups over the next 10 days I can kick that in the butt! So yesterday I arrived at the house I am dog sitting and was shown around town, how to drive the car and what their life looks like day to day. The couple was so nice and welcoming, we had a lovely home-cooked dinner, some prosecco and a lot of laughs. Today, after they leave I will have my first try at driving on the other side of the road, I asked many questions, watched many YouTube videos, but still please please wish me luck!
Minnesota Recap: I was able to be home for about 10 days in between CR and England! It was so nice to be back home with my friends, family, PUMBA, and my car! I did definitely over book myself at first and then crashed out for a couple days, but in the end I felt I had a good trip home :) I was able to spend some time at my dad’s childhood home, going through photos and catching up with how he and his family are doing since the loss. Also, had the best time ever catching up with my grandma, we had brunch together and a dinner together, and let me tell you, that woman is so funny, I have missed her so much! I am so excited for when I am back this summer to spend more and more time with her; she honestly is probably going to get sick of me and Emma, but she is our only grandparent left so she is going to have to suck it up!
School Update: finished all my first half semester classes and now will begin my second half semester classes on Monday. Also, I have kept up on checking on my grades and I can say I passed! Not that I thought I wouldn’t but there are times I truly would rather just not know instead of having a definite answer.
Today’s Agenda: walk the dogs, try to drive around the neighborhood, if it goes well, maybe go into town, finally open up a new book, update the Library section of the blog, and really just try not to nap!
I am sure I will post again soon, but if not, the next adventure after Cornwall is Ireland and Provence with Emma!
